After recently dropping a preview of his forthcoming Skin LP, Australian producer Flume debuts a new single off the project.
Over some tempo-setting claps, Kai shows vocal range on “Never Be Like You” paired with signature and sublime electro waves. Complimenting chimes and high pitches give the track a romantically soothing tone with an optimistic and upbeat pace.
Featured artist, Kai, spent most of 2015 assisting on Skrillex and Diplo’s Jack Ü project – both in the studio with “Mind” and on tour. She also previously contributed a major feature on Diplo’s “Revolution“, the title track off his 2013 EP. 2013 marked a familiar hip-hop contribution from the Toronto singer as well when she ushered in Childish Gambino’s Because the Internet with an assertive and hypnotic feature on “Crawl”.
While Kai has been a breathtaking and noteworthy contributor to a few critically-acclaimed albums, she has yet to debut a solo project herself. Although no official announcements have been made, some late-2015 studio sneak peaks may suggest a 2016 project from the singer/songwriter.
Be on the lookout for Flume’s Skin drop and any news of Kai’s potential 2016 solo work.
