bLAck pARty – MANGO

Royalty artist bLAck pARty debuts new MANGO EP along  with a set of visuals off the project.

MANGO is the third Royalty music release his year, preceded by Kari Faux’s Lost En Los Angeles and Steve G. Lover’s Rich Black Americanboth projects which featured bLAck pARty contributions.

The solo stage for the young artist began almost a year ago with “You” and picked up again with the single release of “Show Me” this summer. The debut project has now been premiered with the video selection of “Best View”.  Although the video’s location is not specified, it fittingly resembles bLAck pARty’s home state of Arkansas, per the release of a 2015 collab “Blessed” with reminiscent woodland scenes. The video plays off a cautiously romantic feel and twists through some taxidermy experimentation – open to your own metaphor of choice.

bLAck pARty has been generally known as a producer during his recent rise, working heavily on Kari’s Lost En Los Angeles in-between his separated single drops. As a solo artist and throughout MANGO, he hasn’t overplayed his hand on the vocals, sticking to smooth melodies, poetry-strung verses and a consistent delivery of self-described “tropical funk” instrumentals.

In quick reaction, MANGO feels like an R&B set, stripped of some general conventions expected of the genre – a peculiar one at that in 2016. Old school influences make appearances but also make way for the tropical sounds and new-wave. Alternative R&B? Or rather. indie R&B, which is exceptionally fun to say as this project is exceptionally fun to listen to.

MANGO is available below and will be across music platforms November 8. If you haven’t already, get to know bLAck pARty via our exclusive feature earlier this year where we discus musical roots, Childish Gambino collaborations and sending emails:
